Artist Statement: In my artwork “Paris Rain”, I aim to transport viewers into the heart of a rain-drenched city of lights. The painting is an abstract representation of a rainy evening in Paris.

I wanted a piece that is atmospheric and moody, capturing the blurred vision one might experience during a downpour in an urban setting. Through the use of color, light, and texture, I strive to create a sense of depth and movement, offering viewers an immersive experience of a rain-soaked city. This painting is a testament to my fascination with the interplay of light, color, and texture, and of course love of rain!

“I love to capture a moment in time, be it passengers waiting for a train, people on crowded street, or a lone figure on a rainy night,” says Stewart. “There is simplicity in a moment, but the complexity of the story it tells is what fascinates me.”

Ran Stewart is a fine artist who works from his studio in Salt Lake City. He has shown work locally and nationally for over 30 years. Most recently several of his pieces have been adopted into the Permanent Utah Artist Collection at the Ray Olpin Union at the University of Utah.
