“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
Artist Statement:
In this pieces I delve into the profound realms of self-discovery and the innate human desire to find one’s belonging. This painting is a reflection of my personal journey, articulated through a limited pallet and blurred imagery that draws the eye towards a luminous point of convergence. It is here, in this space of light, that the path of life unfolds.
The figures depicted through abstract silhouettes, represent the various stages of proximity and distance we experience in our search for purpose. They blend into the environment, highlighting the ephemeral nature of our identities and the places we occupy.
This artwork is a space for thought, where viewers can see their own stories. It’s about making sense of our complex world and finding our unique place within it.
“Finding My Place” is more than just a name; it’s an experience. It invites you to connect with the painting, where every view is important. I hope to reach out to others emotionally, and for them to see parts of their own life in the mix of shadows, light, and space I’ve painted.

“I love to capture a moment in time, be it passengers waiting for a train, people on crowded street, or a lone figure on a rainy night,” says Stewart. “There is simplicity in a moment, but the complexity of the story it tells is what fascinates me.”
Ran Stewart is a fine artist who works from his studio in Salt Lake City. He has shown work locally and nationally for over 30 years. Most recently several of his pieces have been adopted into the Permanent Utah Artist Collection at the Ray Olpin Union at the University of Utah.
