“Nothing gold can stay.” — Robert Frost
Artist Statement
Moving Further Away was born on my last day in Budapest, a city I had come to love. Looking through the window of a passing bus on a rainy afternoon, I caught sight of a solitary figure walking through the city. The rich golds of the street, the blur of the rain, and the figure disappearing into the distance stayed with me.
There was no story to know, only a moment to witness. As the bus carried me onward, the figure continued on their own journey, our paths intersecting for only an instant. Perhaps it was the knowledge that I, too, was leaving that made the moment linger—a quiet reminder that even the most beautiful experiences must eventually become memories.
