Cast Me Gently
Acrylic on Canvas | 30 × 40 inches
“Cast me gently into morning
For the night has been unkind.”
— Sarah McLachlan, Answer
Artist Statement:
There are moments when life feels heavier than we know how to carry. When the world around us becomes indistinct, softened by uncertainty, and all we can do is quietly hope for a little kindness along the way.
In Cast Me Gently, a rain-soaked city dissolves into shadow and muted light. Familiar shapes blur into abstraction, and the distance between what is known and what lies ahead becomes difficult to discern. Yet through the darkness, a soft illumination remains, a beacon of hope.
The title speaks to that deeply human wish we sometimes carry but rarely express aloud—a gentle plea to life itself when the journey feels particularly difficult.
Not a request for life to be without hardship, but simply that, when we must weather the storm, we might be held a little more gently.
